One UI 7 was the biggest update to Samsung’s mobile software, and now One UI 8 has entered the public testing phase. However, there are a few reasons why you shouldn’t join this new beta program.
Samsung has launched the One UI 8 beta program in countries like the US, UK, Germany, and South Korea, and it may be available in other countries in the coming weeks.
Because this beta program is limited to a limited number of regions, not all users are getting access to it. This is a normal process when software tests are conducted. However, even if you live in eligible countries, we would recommend that you don’t decide to join the beta right away. Let’s find out why.
One UI 7 is enough for you
Samsung’s S25 series comes preinstalled with One UI 7, which offers a completely stable and reliable software experience. In contrast, the beta program is constantly changing – every new update adds, removes or fixes something. If you don’t intend to actively provide feedback as a beta tester, joining the One UI 8 beta may not be the right decision for you. According to some reports, this new beta program may be extended to the S24 and S23 series, so the same warning applies there as well.
Bugs and technical issues
Beta software is under development, meaning bugs and technical glitches are common. In some cases, features you use every day may stop working or not respond to touch input. Stable software is free from these issues – such as One UI 7, which is working smoothly on the S25 or other devices.
Data security precautions
If you have important photos, videos, or documents saved on your phone, it’s important to back them up before participating in the beta. If you want to keep them on the device and are still thinking of participating in the beta, then the idea should be abandoned immediately, as there is a high chance of data loss in beta versions.
What’s new?
One UI 8 does have some improvements, but they are mostly limited to the interface and some specific features. The upgrade is not as big as One UI 7 vs One UI 6. So, you can stick with One UI 7 and wait for the stable One UI 8 update.
Stable version coming soon
While One UI 7 was delayed, the public release of One UI 8 is expected to not be too long a wait – it will probably be available to everyone in July or August. So, if you are happy with the current software and want a smooth experience until the next major release (One UI 9), it’s better to postpone joining the beta program.
