One UI 7.0 Update
Bold new look
Visual enhancements
Enjoy a more refined and unique look. One UI 7 features a stunning new design of key components such as buttons, menus, notifications, and the control bar, providing a more consistent visual experience with curved edges and circles. Beautiful new colors, smooth animations, and a unique blur effect exclusive to One UI make notification priority clearer and help you focus on what’s important.
Reimagined Home screen
Fresh and new app icons look great on your home screen, with new visual metaphors and colour schemes that make it easier to identify the apps you need. Widgets have been completely redesigned, with even more colourful images and a more consistent layout. Folders on your home screen can also be made larger so you can quickly access apps without having to open a folder.
Simplified Home screen grid
Your home screen now looks even better. A new standard grid layout keeps things balanced and makes it easier to use One UI widgets in standard sizes.
Improved home screen landscape view
Now when you use your phone horizontally (landscape), the look of the home screen will look more uniform. Widgets in landscape view now appear in a uniform proportion, and text labels with icons no longer appear beside them, but below them.
Customize the style of your apps and widgets
Decorate your home screen the way you like. You can now adjust the size of app icons and choose whether text labels appear below icons and major widgets. You can also change the size, background colour, and transparency of each widget in its settings.
Lock screen & Always on Display
Keep track of important tasks with the Now bar
Now lets you see important information and start essential features without unlocking your phone. Running tasks will appear in the Now bar at the bottom of your lock screen, allowing you to quickly see important information. These include: media controls, stopwatch, timer, voice recorder, Samsung Health and more.
Customize your clock
Discover many new clock styles for the lock screen. You can adjust the thickness of the lines in the default clock style, or try animated clocks to your liking. You can also resize the clock and drag it to your preferred location on the screen.
Even more widgets and shortcuts
Now you can see and do more even when your phone is locked. Add a widget that shows photos and stories from your gallery, or use a shortcut that lets you open the QR code scanner in one swipe.
Quick panel & notifications
Separate notifications and quick panels
Quickly access the panels you need with more space for quick settings. Swipe down from the top right corner of the screen to open the quick settings panel. Swipe down from anywhere else on the top of the screen to open the notification panel.
Customize your quick panels
Create your own quick panel layout. Tap the pencil icon above the quick panel to go into edit mode, then drag buttons and controls up and down to set them to your liking.
Live notifications
Keep track of what’s happening right now. Live notifications show you the progress of ongoing activities like timers, voice recordings, exercises, and more, so you can take quick actions related to them. Live notifications will appear in the “Now bar” on the lock screen, the status bar, and at the top of the notification panel.
New notification layout
The icons on notifications are now the same as the app icons on your home screen, making it easier to identify which app sent a notification. Grouped notifications will now look like a stack of cards. Tap a stack to see all notifications in that group.
Instantly access useful information
Press and hold the Side button to access Google Gemini
The Side button is a new way to quickly access Google Gemini or another digital assistant app, replacing the corner swipe. You can change the Side button action in Settings.
Complete multiple tasks at once
Google Gemini is now seamlessly integrated into Samsung apps like Calendar, Notes, Reminder, and Clock. You can use information from Gemini to complete tasks in these apps with a simple command. For example, ask Google Gemini for a YouTube video and have the results saved to Samsung Notes, or find your favourite sports team’s schedule and ask it to add it to your calendar.
Circle to Search. Listen and search.
Circle to Search with Google lets you quickly find information by circling anything on the screen, even faster with AI Overviews. You can circle anything—such as an image, video, or text—and get instant results. You can also search for information about the song you’re currently listening to without changing apps.
Capture images with ease
New camera layout
The camera buttons, controls, and modes have been reorganized to make it easier for you to find the features you need and to see a clear preview of the photo or video you’re taking.
Mode selection improvements
The More modes menu has been redesigned. Instead of filling the entire screen and blocking the camera view, it now shows a small pop-up that only covers the bottom portion of the screen, making it easier to select a mode.
Improved zoom controls
Choosing the right zoom level is now easier. A 2x zoom button is available by default, and additional zoom options appear after you select a lens.
Upgraded filter experience
The camera filters have been completely redesigned. New filters are available and old ones have been improved. Each filter has options to fine-tune intensity, color temperature, contrast, and saturation, making it easier to create the look you want. You can also create custom filters based on the style and mood of your chosen photos.
Save exposure settings for each mode
The Exposure option in the camera’s Quick Controls lets you control the brightness or darkness of your photos. Once you set the exposure for a mode, that setting remains in that mode, even if you switch modes and return.
Pro/Pro Video mode improvements
The layout of the Pro and Pro Video modes is now simpler and easier to use so you can focus on your photo or video. A new zoom control has also been added to the Pro Video mode that helps control the zoom speed, making transitions smoother. Microphone controls are now available in Quick Controls in Pro Video mode.
Audio playback during video recording
You can now listen to music, podcasts, or other audio content seamlessly while recording a video by turning on Audio playback in Advanced Video Options.
Line up for the perfect shot
Grid lines and levels are available to help you position the camera correctly. Grid lines can now be turned on or off separately from the horizontal level. There is also an option to show a new vertical level.
Enjoy your special moments
Free-form collages
Go beyond the predefined layouts of collages in Gallery. You can now adjust the size, position, and rotation of photos in your collage to create your own unique layout.
Edit collages in Stories
Create your Story collages the way you like them. You now have full control to edit the collages you create in Stories. Change, delete, or add photos, or adjust their position and size.
Powerful video editing
Easily undo your edits
Don’t worry about making mistakes. Undo and Redo options are now available for video editing changes like transformations, filters, and tone changes.
Animate your videos
Add fun animation effects to your video’s stickers and text in the studio. Choose from fade in, fade out, wipes, rotation, and more.
Manage your health
Be mindful
The new Mindfulness feature in Samsung Health can help you manage stress and anxiety in your everyday life. Keep track of your mood and emotions, practice breathing exercises and meditation, and more.
New Samsung Health Badges
Stay motivated and work toward your health goals while earning new badges in Samsung Health. Take on the challenge to win new badges for energy score, exercise, activity, food, water, body composition, and more.
Boost your productivity
Previews for minimized apps
When multiple pop-up windows from the same app are minimized, they will be combined into one icon. Tapping the icon will show a preview of all open windows from that app, so you can easily select the window you want to open.
Group your alarms
Create groups of alarms in the Clock app that you want to control together. You can turn off all alarms in a group with a single tap.
Make all your alarms sound the same
For simpler setup, all your alarms sound the same by default. If you want to set different sound levels for each alarm, you can choose this in Clock settings.
Improved file selection
The new File Picker makes it easier to attach and select files across different apps. It’s easy to switch between different storage locations and categories, and previews are shown to help you choose the right files.
Advanced Options for Routines
Program your phone to do almost anything. Routines are now even more powerful, with If-Else logic and the ability to receive data as variables.
Plan tasks & events
Easily reschedule calendar events
Drag and drop any event from one date to another on your calendar in Month View to change the event date.
Show different calendars on widgets
You can now choose which calendars appear on your calendar widgets. You can select a single calendar and have its events appear on the home screen, or create two separate calendar widgets with a different calendar on each.
Count down the days until an important event
Creating a countdown widget for an event is easier than ever. Go to Event details, then select ‘Add countdown widget’ from the More options menu. A widget will appear on your home screen showing the number of days left until your birthday, anniversary, holiday, or any other selected event.
Move all events from one calendar to another
Avoid the hassle of moving events one by one. You can now move all events from one calendar to another, such as from your phone’s calendar to a cloud-based calendar.
More options for repeating reminders
When you create a repeating reminder, you can now choose multiple dates, not just one.
Improved Quick Add menu
It’s easier to quickly create reminders. The Quick Add menu now has preset options for times and locations.
Manage your completed reminders
It’s easier to de-clutter your reminders list. A new setting lets you automatically delete completed reminders after a certain period of time. You can also duplicate completed reminders so you can reuse them without having to enter all the information again.
Connect & share
Easily connect to nearby devices
It’s easier than ever to connect to other Samsung devices, such as TVs, tablets, PCs, watches, earbuds and more. Tap Nearby devices in the Quick Panel to see available devices around you, then drag a device to your phone to connect instantly. You can also tap a device to see features associated with that device. For example, when you tap TV, you’ll see the option to start Smart View.
Suggested devices for Quick Share
Easily find the right devices to share with. Devices signed in to your Samsung account and devices you’ve shared with before will appear at the top of the list so they’re easy to find.
Continue sharing via the Internet
Complete file transfers even when devices are far away. When sharing files via Quick Share, if the devices are too far apart to perform a direct transfer, the transfer will continue seamlessly via the Internet using Wi-Fi or mobile data.
Protect your security
Protect your data if your phone is stolen
New theft protection features help protect your apps and data if your phone is stolen. If theft is detected or your network connection is lost, the screen will lock automatically, or you can manually lock the screen by visiting android.com/lock. You can also require biometric verification before changing sensitive settings.
Check the security status of your devices
Learn about security threats and resolve them quickly. Knox Matrix monitors supported devices signed in to your Samsung account and suggests how to resolve a security threat if one is found.
Stay protected from security threats
When Maximum restrictions is on, Auto Blocker further protects you from cyberattacks. 2G networks are now blocked, and your phone will not automatically reconnect to non-secure Wi-Fi networks. These restrictions help prevent an attacker from intercepting your network traffic.
Battery and charging
More options for power saving
You now have more control over how your phone behaves in power saving mode. You can choose exactly the features you want to limit so that the battery savings are just right for you. You can change these options even while power saving is on.
More control over battery protection
When you turn on battery protection, you can now adjust the maximum charging level anywhere between 80% and 95%.
New charging effect
When you plug in a charger, the charging confirmation is now smaller and appears at the bottom of the screen instead of in the middle so that it’s not obtrusive and the charging status is easily visible.
Accessible to everyone
Zoom in and out with just one finger
Zooming in and out is now easier. Those who have difficulty using pinch zoom can now activate 1-finger zoom from the Assistant menu. Swipe up or right to zoom in. Swipe down or left to zoom out.
Improved screen controls
The Assistant menu now helps with screen controls even more. You can now double tap and touch and hold with just a tap of a button. New scrolling controls let you move the screen a certain distance by tapping the start and end points on the screen.
Customize your touch interactions
Get help choosing the settings that are most comfortable for you. New tests are available for the touch and hold delay, tap duration, and ignore repeated touch settings. These tests will tell you if your current settings are appropriate or need to be adjusted.
Even more improvements
Get helpful suggestions in Smart Select
When you select a part of the screen with Smart Select, helpful actions will be suggested based on your selection. If your selection contains details about an event, you’ll get an option to add it to Calendar. If you select a picture, you’ll get options to edit or improve the quality of the picture.
Rewatch videos
In the video player, a button will appear at the end of each video to let you watch the video again from the beginning.
Improvements to the contact list
For a better experience, both the Phone app and the Contacts app now show the same contact list. The menus and options are the same so you can always find what you’re looking for easily. When you search for contacts, the contacts you look for most often will appear at the top of the search results, making it easier to find the right person faster.
Add boarding passes to Samsung Wallet faster
When you view a supported airline or travel webpage in Samsung Internet that includes a boarding pass, a button will appear allowing you to add it to Samsung Wallet easily and quickly.
Activity forecast
It’s now easier to check if the weather is suitable for outdoor activities such as running, gardening, camping, and more. You can choose up to three activities to show in the Weather app.
Custom location labels
It’s easier to keep track of different locations in the Weather app. You can now set custom labels for the locations you add, such as home, work, school, or any other place where you want to see the weather.
Boost your gaming
Game Booster’s in-game panel has been redesigned, allowing you to quickly change settings without leaving the game.
Set performance for each game
Game Booster now allows adjusting performance settings separately for each game. You can set high performance for some games and save battery for others, thereby increasing gaming time. Find the settings that best suit you.
Edge panel downloading support ended
Edge panels can no longer be downloaded from the Galaxy Store in One UI 7. Edge panels that have already been downloaded can continue to be used.
If you have any of these models, you can expect the One UI 7 update to arrive on your device via OTA soon. Since this is a big update, it is over 3GB on all devices, so make sure you download the update via Wi-Fi.
Also, there is an option to manually install the latest firmware via Odin flash tool. Don’t forget to backup your data before installing the update.
