Last month, Motorola started registration for its Android 16 beta program. Now this initiative has reached about a dozen Motorola smartphones. The company’s flagship Edge series models — Edge 60 Pro and Edge 50 Pro — are also included in this list. The beta version of Android 16 has now started reaching the users of both these devices.
An Edge 50 Pro user @allwaysvictory has confirmed this update by posting on X (formerly Twitter). According to him, the phone is receiving Android 16 beta with W1UM36H.11 build number. The update file size is around 1.42 GB and it is based on the July security patch.

At the same time, the Edge 60 Pro model has received the new beta version as W1VV36H.7. A user named UShiva98 on X said that the size of this update is around 1.5 GB. With this, the security patch level of the phone will be upgraded to July 2025.
So far, users of both the models have not shared any specific information about the changes in the UI or the new features. However, it is expected that it will include the major features of Android 16 like – live updates, desktop window mode, group notifications, new emojis, inbuilt photo picker, AV1 codec support, improvements in predictive back gesture, HDR screenshots, advanced protection mode, etc.
If you have a Motorola Edge 50 Pro or Edge 60 Pro and want to test this new software, then you can become a part of the beta program.
