Microsoft Announces Next-Gen Xbox Consoles Powered by AMD Technology

According to Sarah Bond, the upcoming Xbox will come with better performance, AI-based features and full backward compatibility. In today’s expensive gaming era, backward compatibility is a big assurance. For those who have used Xbox for years, it is pleasant to know that their existing games will continue to run in the future. This makes it clear that Microsoft is not only creating new technology, but also giving importance to the experience of old users.

Xbox console will have multi-store support

This partnership of Microsoft with AMD points to another big change. Not just the chipset, but the software framework of Xbox will also see a big change. Bond made it clear that the next-gen Xbox will not be limited to just one store. This means that you will now be able to play games on Xbox via Game Pass as well as from other platforms like Steam.

Imagine playing Halo Infinite on the same device and then jumping into Baldur’s Gate 3—without any hassle. Xbox console is now looking to establish itself as not just a console, but an all-in-one gaming platform that offers the flexibility of a computer but is just as easy to use.

Windows team is building the future Xbox

Microsoft’s Windows team is also involved in this new project, which indicates that the next Xbox could be a powerful Windows-based system that comes with the ease of a console. Already existing handheld devices like the ROG Ally are a sign of this—based on Windows and with support for multiple game libraries.

AI-powered gaming experience

AI will also be a key part of the next Xbox console generation. Microsoft and AMD are working together to improve every aspect of gaming—be it graphics, gameplay agility, or user experience. The goal is to keep the fun of traditional console gaming, but make it more sophisticated with modern technology.

While there is no official release date yet, it is expected to hit the market by 2027. Until then, Microsoft is focused on blurring the boundaries between console, PC, and handheld platforms. Games and user progress will be seamlessly transferred from one device to another.

A new era, new expectations

After a long time, it looks like Xbox console is coming up with something truly revolutionary. This time it is not just a hardware upgrade, but an attempt to redefine the entire gaming experience.
