Instagram Tests Auto-Scroll for Reels: Say Goodbye to Swiping

In this new auto-scroll function, as soon as one reel ends, the next one starts automatically. If you want to see the previous reel again, you can go back by scrolling up. This feature is off by default, but you can turn it on. The way is easy: tap on the three dots near the share button on the reel and turn on the “Auto-Scroll” option from there.

At present, this feature is not available to all users. According to the information, Instagram is currently running this feature in pilot mode with some selected users and content creators—especially in India. According to a report, only one member of a tech team saw this option in his account.

Although auto-scroll seems like a small change, its impact can be huge. For those who already waste hours on reels, this feature can take up even more time. Earlier, where users used to control by swiping manually, now reels will keep running continuously, which can make it difficult to estimate the time.

There is no clear information at the moment on when this feature will be rolled out to all users. But it is expected that Instagram can launch it globally soon.
