Following another disappointing delay for GTA 6, Rockstar Games is working to appease its fans. The company has announced that PS5 and Xbox Series X/S users can now play GTA Online completely free for a limited time. This news was initially noticed by gamers themselves when they spotted the game free on the online store. Rockstar later officially confirmed it.
The PS Plus paywall removal sparked a discussion
The free trial began when some users on Twitter (formerly Twitter) noticed that a PS Plus subscription was no longer required to play GTA Online. Previously, players had to not only have a GTA+ subscription but also pay for PS Plus—which angered many fans. This limited-period trial offers a temporary solution to this problem.
Play GTA Online for Free for a Week
According to Rockstar’s announcement, players can enjoy GTA Online for free on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S from November 11th until Monday, November 17th.
- To play, simply go to your PlayStation or Xbox Store,
- type “GTA Online” in the search bar,
- and download the game free of charge.
If the price is still showing, wait a few hours—it’s possible the trial hasn’t been activated yet.
Only Online Mode Available
It’s worth noting that this free offer only includes the online portion of GTA 5. This means you’ll only be able to enter the world of GTA Online, where players build their crime empires and compete with others.
A Soothing Effect on the GTA 6 Delay
While this limited-period offer isn’t a complete substitute for the GTA 6 delay, it’s certainly a small gift for fans. GTA 5 is still among the best-selling games on PlayStation and Xbox platforms every month, and GTA Online’s popularity hasn’t waned over the years.
The question now is—have you already played GTA Online? If not, are you planning on taking part in this free trial? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
