Apple has released the fifth developer beta of iOS 26, and public beta 2 is expected to be available this week. As the release of the final version approaches, the new beta version focuses on performance improvements and bug fixes rather than new features.
iOS 26 beta 5 has been released for all iPhone 11 and later models. Public beta 2 is expected to be similar to this version, so that general users can also get the new experience soon.
Today Apple has released iOS 26 beta 5 as well as iPadOS 26 beta 5, watchOS 26 beta 5, tvOS 26 beta 5, visionOS 26 beta 5, macOS Tahoe 26 beta 5, macOS Sequoia 15.7 RC and macOS Sonoma 14.8 RC to developers.
The build number of iOS 26 beta 5 is 23A5308g. If you have beta 4 installed, the new update may weigh around 4GB, although the exact size will depend on your device and current system.
This beta update brings several major improvements and minor changes, such as:
- New modem version that may improve connectivity
- Small visual updates to the Liquid Glass UI
- Animations are now better
- Classic mode option for gesture controls in the Camera app
- Minor changes to some app icons
- Several small improvements to the user interface
- Several bug fixes
Now that iOS 26 is closer to final release, the number of new features in future beta versions will be reduced and system stability and performance will be prioritized.
If you have an iPhone 11 or newer and have opted for the developer beta, you will see this update in Settings > General > Software Update. If you haven’t activated the beta profile yet, you can enable it by going to the same section.
