The release of Black Ops 6 Season 4 is not far away now, as the last updates from Season 3 Reloaded are slowly rolling out to the game. The mid-season update continued Call of Duty’s 4/20 obsession with the “High Art” event, which saw Seth Rogen’s first appearance in the series. Now, the update is saying goodbye with the “CODE: Got Your Six” event, which will end by the end of May and make room for the much-anticipated Season 4. As far as new content for players goes, the developers have officially revealed all the new features coming in Season 4. With that in mind, here’s everything you need to know about Black Ops 6 Season 4 — its release date, new weapons, maps, and more.
Black Ops 6 Season 4 Release Date
Black Ops 6 Season 4 will be released on Thursday, May 29, 2025. As usual, the Battle Pass’s timer reflects the release date, which is set to end on this day. This has also been confirmed by the official Call of Duty X account recently. New seasonal updates usually start at 9am PT / 12pm ET / 5pm BST.
Black Ops 6 Season 4 Content
The BO6 Season 4 roadmap looks packed in almost every department, although the lack of a new Zombies map is a bit disappointing. Nevertheless, let’s take a look at the new weapons, maps, LTM, and more.
New Weapons

- FFAR: Full-auto assault rifle. Very fast fire rate and great close-quarters battle (CQB) prowess, but slow handling and mobility.
- LC10: Full-auto submachine gun. Excellent accuracy and range, with a moderate fire rate. Average mobility for its class and very slow handling.
- Essex Model 07: Classic lever-action marksman rifle. High damage potential. Balanced due to slow fire rate and handling.
- Olympia: A double-barreled shotgun with very high damage and respectable range, but requires frequent reloads.
- Pickaxe: Deadly melee weapon that brutally demolishes unarmored enemies. It has a short range, but its combination of fast strikes and overhead attacks can stun enemies.
The FFAR and LC10 were first spotted by sharp-eyed players in Season 3’s Outroads cinematic, which almost confirmed that these weapons would be returning in Season 4. Both of these weapons previously appeared in Black Ops: Cold War, with the FFAR being a high-recoil version of the FAMAS, while the LC10 is a fast-firing SMG that has always been among the top-performing weapons in the game’s multiplayer mode.
The Olympia is a double-barrel shotgun and a classic Black Ops weapon that’s set to make a comeback. This legendary weapon dominates close-range encounters, although its long-range capabilities are limited. Speaking of classic weapons, the Essex Model 07, which made its mark in Black Ops 4 Zombies, is also making a comeback. This weapon has the potential to deliver tremendous damage, although its heavy-handling feel makes it a bit slow.
New Attachments
Black Ops 6 is getting three new attachments with the launch of Season 4:
- G-Grip (SMGs/ARs): Obtainable through the Battle Pass. The G-Grip is basically a vertical foregrip with a laser attached. It improves firing stability, horizontal recoil control, and spread during transitions between hipfire to ADS (Aiming Down Sights).
- Strider .22 3-Round Burst Mod: This mod turns the Strider .22 into a 3-round burst weapon. This significantly improves the fire rate and keeps the gun kick under control, but the weapon’s damage profile changes outside of the effective range.
- SVD Full Auto Mod: This season event reward will be a highlight for players. As the name suggests, it turns the SVD into a fully automatic weapon.
- TR2 CQB Auto Conversion: This enables the TR2 Marksman Rifle to fire handgun caliber rounds, making it a compact framed marksman rifle with fully automatic capabilities — which can rival the fire rate of an SMG.
New Scorestreak

The Grim Reaper is coming back with Scorestreak Season 4. It is also alternatively known as the M202 Flash. The Grim Reaper has appeared in several CoD titles, including Black Ops 1. It is a quad-barrel semi-automatic rocket launcher that can fire four projectiles before reloading. This launcher will be quite useful against enemies, but we will have to wait to see how effective it will be in taking down airships.
New Maps

Three new multiplayer maps will be included at the start of Season 4, and two additional maps will arrive as mid-season content:
- Shutdown: This is a small 6v6 map based on a hydroelectric plant located in the volcanic, rugged terrain of Iceland. The map includes sections of water, as well as structures such as a broken turbine, a yard, a pumphouse, and a canteen.
- Fugitive: This is a medium-sized 6v6 map set inside a CIA black site. It’s dimly lit and the corridors are narrow, but there’s plenty of room to get lost thanks to its multi-level design. It also features shortcuts to reach outside areas such as the Checkpoint, Courtyard, and Recreation Yard.
- Blitz: This is a small strike map that represents the final stage of Adler’s daring prison escape plan. Rows of damaged vehicles on a bridge bring traffic to a complete standstill, creating a chaotic environment for fast-paced combat. Fortunately, there’s room to wander around the edges, where players can head to the cliffside or head inside and ambush enemies near the waterfall.
Eclipse: One of the two maps coming post-launch: It’s set inside the opulent Avalon nightclub. It’s a compact arena with a dance floor in the middle, breakable walls on the sides, and neon lights flashing all around.

The real post-launch highlight is Fringe, a beloved map from Black Ops 3 now reimagined for BO6. The map is based around the Rolling Hill Distillery, and the picturesque location features classic three-lane combat, with various buildings spread out that players can access.
New Modes
In terms of game modes, two new modes will launch at the start of Season 4, and more will be added in the mid-season update:
- Team Elimination: This is a new variation of the “Kill Confirmed” mode in which two teams get a limited number of lives each round and fight to be the last team standing. When a player is killed, he drops a “dog tag” that can be picked up by an enemy to confirm a kill or a teammate to deny a kill. The team that survives the longest or has the most lives at the end of the round is the winner.
- One in the Chamber: Another Black Ops favorite mode, “One in the Chamber,” is returning for Season 04. In this free-for-all mode, each operator gets a pistol, one bullet, one knife, and three lives. Accuracy is key here as one shot is all it takes to kill an opponent, and you only get another bullet if you make an elimination. The three highest scoring Operators at the end of the match will stand in the Winner’s Circle.
Party Ops is the third new game mode that will be released at a later date. Not much is known about it at the moment, except that players will compete in party-themed random minigames.
New Events
Two in-season events are coming to Call of Duty, and more are coming in the Season 4 Reloaded update:
- Ballerina: In collaboration with the upcoming film, the Ballerina event brings several elements from the John Wick universe to BO6. As part of its reward tree, players can get the Essex Model 07 Marksman Rifle and a ballerina-themed Nunchuck Melee Blueprint for BlackCell owners.
- Rivals: Continuing the post-launch story, the Rivals event is themed around how Stitch goes from enemy to friend. It requires players to earn XP across all game modes to unlock several cool free items, including the Stryder .22 3-Round Burst Mod and the Grim Reaper.
New Operators

Call of Duty veterans know that no character in the franchise dies forever. One example is Stitch — the main villain in BO: Cold War post-launch content. He was shot dead by Adler in the game’s final cutscene. This led most players to assume that Perseus’ heir was dead for good, but Season 3’s outro cinematic hinted otherwise.
In this scene, the camera pans to a prison facility with a nameplate reading “Vikhor ‘Stitch’ Kuzmin.” This indicated that the former KGB agent survived the shooting and was captured by Adler. Subsequently, Season 4 reveals confirmed that she will be used as an intelligence asset against Pantheon. In addition to Stitch, two more Operators are also coming to the game — a BlackCell skin named Omen, and Ballerina’s Eve Macarro.
New Zombies Content

While the Season 4 blog doesn’t mention any new Zombies maps, the good news is that Grief mode is making a return. Last seen in Black Ops 2, this fan-favorite Zombies mode pits two teams (four players each) against each other, where players pledge allegiance to either S.A.M. or Director Ricktofen.
The objective in this mode is to take down the opposing team’s players — without directly harming them. That means players can’t fire directly. Instead, they have to use body blocking, melee weapons, and projectiles to slow down and trap opponents so that nearby zombies can finish them off.
Season 4 will feature 11 Grief mode arenas, spread across Liberty Falls, Terminus, Citadelle des Morts, The Tomb, and Shattered Veil. In addition, new Dark Ops Challenges will also come with this update, which will give hidden calling cards and lots of XP.
Players will be able to enjoy two new LTMs (Limited Time Modes) in the mid-season update: Starting Room and Abomination Challenges. In Starting Room, the player is trapped in the first zone of the map, where the only goal is to survive. While in Abomination Challenges, the team of zombies will be sent to a twisted version of Liberty Falls, where they will have to hunt down an ultra-powerful Abomination.
Not only this, three new GobbleGums are also being added to the Zombies mode: Explosive Flourish – causes explosions around the player when reloading the weapon. Flavor Hex – Activates a random Ultra GobbleGum. And finally, Rainburps – which makes zombies release bright rainbow bubbles when they die.
