Shortly after releasing the public version of Android 16, Google launched Android 16 QPR1 Beta 2 for testing. However, some users faced technical issues in this beta version. To solve these problems, the company has now introduced Android 16 QPR1 Beta 2.1 update for Pixel devices.
If you have a Pixel 6 or a newer model, you can update your phone to this latest beta version. Google has released the BP31.250523.010 build number for this update, which is applicable to select Pixel phones. Also, the June 2025 security patch has also been included with this update.
Many important improvements have been made in this update. Such as the launcher crash on swiping the button in the app drawer has been fixed, the transparency issue of the approve button in the device admin settings has been resolved, the problem related to the sound toggle in the lock screen has been resolved and the functionality of the back button has also been improved.
- The “Approve” button in the Device Admin settings is transparent and invisible (Issue #419144521)
- The lockscreen sound toggle shows as off, but sounds still play (Issue #423985494)
- The Android back button intermittently fails to function (Issue #412691179, Issue #417434626, Issue #420283260)
- Fix for a launcher crash when swiping up from the bottom
If you have already installed Android 16 QPR1 Beta 2 on your Pixel device, then this new update will be available via over-the-air (OTA). On the other hand, if you are still using the public version, but want to try the beta program, then you can experience the new beta version and upcoming updates by joining Google’s beta program.
Note: Before the update, it is important that you back up your device and ensure that the phone’s battery is charged at least 50%.
